Andrew Kirkpatrick ISC 2015 New York Gremlins

Day 7 – ISC 2017 – Fastpitch Softball Summary

The second last day of ISC’s sees 8 teams remaining. These teams include the Toronto Batmen, BC As, A-1 Bombers, Circle Tap Dukes, Scarborough Force, New York Gremlins, Hill United Chiefs and the Toronto Gators. This was soon to be narrowed down to 4 teams.

The first team eliminated from the ISC’s Tournament was the Toronto Batmen after being defeated by the BC As, 6-1. Lucas Mata held up his end of the bargain for the As holding the Batmen to 5 hits and 1 run, whilst his teammates locked in 9 hits to add 6 to the scoreboard.  Marcus Tan and Pat Sagdal both had two hits for the As along with 2 RBI’s a piece.

The Circle Tap Dukes then played off against the A-1 Bombers and were defeated 4-1. The teams were both equal on hits, and had a HR a piece. It ultimately was the timing of these hits, the additional walks and errors that would see the Bombers get over the line. Feedback about the Aussies, Ryan Sinclair played short for the Dukes and had a couple of stolen bases along with a hit. Joel Goodall came in to close out the game for Circle Tap and Marshall Kronk had two at bats.

Next up was the 5 vs 6 seeds and saw BC As winning their second game for the day, removing yet another team in Scarborough Force from the Championship. This time it was Ramon Jones holding down the Force keeping them to 2 runs. Juan wasn’t able to hold the As and was swapped for Don Scott who closed out the game for a return of 0 runs. Again Marcus Tan and Pat Sagdal had two hits a piece and with homeruns to Garrity and Pintos the As would prove to be two good for the Scarborough Force on this occasion.

The A-1 bombers would then take on the New York Gremlins in a high scoring affair. The Gremlins scored 4 in the first before adding another 3 against Devon MeCullough and Richard Haldane. Roman Godoy pitched 2 and a bit innings for 4 runs before Andrew Kirkpatrick closed out the game. Matt Palazzo and Brad Ezekiel both had 2 RBI’s along with a HR a piece for the night and Zenon Winters reached base 3 times with a couple of walks and a hit. Jeff Goolagong played Centre Field and registered a hit on the night. Despite 3 HR for the Bombers to Carmona, Dudley and Marshall Kronk and strong hitting performance throughout the tournament, the Bombers were knocked out on Day 7 of the Tournament.

What a game the next one turned out to be, with the Gators the eventual winners at 7-6 in the ninth. The Canadians and Americans were spread amongst the teams with the sides being split between the Aussies in the Hill United Chiefs and the Kiwi’s in the Toronto Gators. Brad Ezekiel and James Todhunter stared on the night for the Chiefs with 7 hits between them, however it wasn’t enough to get them over the line as the Gators racked up an impressive 11 hits off of an outstanding pitching line-up! 21 hits were registered for the night against some of the best pitching in the world showed why these teams were seeded 1 and 2 and this was proven once again on Day 8. Joel Southam and Nick Shailes both hit homeruns on the night for the Aussies and Adam Folkard threw 6 innings on the night.
